Missing Building
By Thom & Beth Atkinson
Missing Buildings by Thom and Beth Atkinson was for me, one of the most anticipated books of 2015. Once receiving this book I always knew my first thoughts would always be slightly biased. I was lucky enough to have been taught on and off by Thom as an associate lecturer at Southampton Solent University.
This brother and sister duo document buildings all over London, which in some way have been affected during the 2nd World War. It’s one of those simple ideas, which you always ask ‘why didn’t I think of that?’ Yet the idea is so beautifully portrayed through the elegant imagery. This taxonomy of imagery is appealing to both photographers and non-photographers. The cloth bound book is the first to be published under Hwaet Books, founded by Thom.
